Woman ‘Shocked’ By Gift Wrap Available At Walgreens
Note: This story was initially reported in December 2014.
A woman expressed her dismay upon finding wrapping paper with a pattern resembling a swastika at a Walgreens store, prompting a response from the company.
Cheryl Shapiro was shopping with her grandson in a Walgreens in Southern California when she noticed the blue and white geometric wrapping paper. Shocked, she reported the discovery to a store employee and insisted on escalating the issue to corporate.
“I demanded that this be removed from all stores, not just locally,” Shapiro told NBC Los Angeles. “I was truly appalled by what I saw.”
Shapiro mentioned that other shoppers also reacted with surprise at the wrapping paper.
In response, a Walgreens spokesperson stated that the company is looking into the matter, noting that the wrapping paper is also available at another nearby location.
