Pilot Under Investigation After Customer Posts Photo Of His ‘Controversial’ Sticker Online

Dana Finley Morrison, who works with fraternities and sororities in Missouri, was aboard an American Airlines flight from St. Lucia to Miami when she noticed a “Let’s Go Brandon” sticker on the pilot’s crew luggage. This slogan, which is an anti-Biden sentiment, gained popularity after a NASCAR reporter misinterpreted crowd chants in September.

Morrison tweeted at American Airlines, asking if the airline condoned such “cowardly rhetoric” from their pilots while in uniform. She expressed concern that other passengers were equally disturbed by the display.

In response, the airline acknowledged her message and requested further details via direct message. Morrison later shared screenshots of her conversation with the airline, which emphasized their commitment to high standards for their staff.

According to the airline’s policy, employees are permitted to wear only official and preapproved pins, and pilots are limited to three pins at any time. Following the incident, the airline placed the pilot under investigation.

The airline’s actions sparked debate online, with some arguing that pilots should be free to express their views. Critics pointed out perceived inconsistencies, referencing American Airlines’ previous decision to allow staff to wear Black Lives Matter pins. The airline had stated that it supports equity and inclusion and allows employees to express solidarity with movements advocating for justice and equality.

One commenter noted the contradiction, saying, “If crew can wear BLM merchandise, it’s hard to justify censoring this.” Others echoed similar sentiments, questioning the double standard regarding political expression among employees.

The airline has not disclosed the pilot’s identity or whether any disciplinary action will be taken. They have also not responded to further requests for comment.
