Popeyes Employees Mock Customer And Use Racially Insensitive Language, Unaware He Is A Well-Known Public Figure

In January 2017, “American Idol” runner-up Bo Bice reported an incident at a Popeyes restaurant in Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia, where he alleged he was targeted due to his race.

According to reports, Bice, 41, claimed that a Popeyes employee referred to him as “that white boy” and mistakenly gave his order to someone else, all while laughing about it with colleagues. Bice also stated that one of the employees mocked his name for several minutes.

Following the incident, Bice posted about it on social media, including photos and the name of one of the employees involved. Facebook later removed his post, citing their policy against identifying and shaming individuals.

Bice expressed frustration over what he perceived as a double standard in how such incidents are treated. He emphasized that he wanted to spark a dialogue about racism and sensitivity in society.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen issued an apology, stating they do not condone such behavior and took corrective action. Bice clarified that he requested the employee not be fired but receive sensitivity training instead.
