Man Shares Unseen Footage Of Twin Tower Collapse
Over two decades after the September 11, 2001, attacks, new footage of the Twin Towers’ collapse has emerged. Kei Sugimoto, who recorded the video, recently released it after finding old tapes in his closet. A Reddit user commented, “It’s incredible that we’re nearly 23 years later and still discovering new footage.”
Captured from the rooftop of a building at 64 St Marks Place in New York City, Sugimoto’s footage provides a rare view of the towers falling from the north. The video depicts the towers engulfed in smoke before their collapse, offering a perspective not seen from the south or east, as one viewer pointed out.
Since its release on July 23, 2023, the footage has sparked extensive online conversation. One user mused, “It makes me think about how much history is tucked away in people’s attics or basements, just waiting to be discovered.”
By sharing this footage, Sugimoto not only contributes a new visual aspect to the events of 9/11 but also reinforces the collective memory of an event that significantly influenced the 21st century.
