A flight attendant’s intuition played a crucial role in saving a teenage girl from a potential human trafficking situation.

Shelia Frederick was working on a flight when she noticed unusual behavior from a man and the girl. The teenager avoided eye contact, while the man answered all of her questions.

“He was well-dressed, which struck me as odd because she appeared disheveled and uneasy,” Frederick shared. “Something told me that something was off.”

Frederick discreetly instructed the girl to go to the restroom. There, the girl found a note on the mirror.

“She wrote that she needed help,” Frederick recalled.

After informing the pilot about the situation, the crew contacted the authorities, ultimately protecting the girl from becoming a trafficking victim.

“I’ve been a flight attendant for 10 years, and it brings me back to my training. I could have overlooked similar situations before,” she reflected.

Since the incident, Frederick has kept in touch with the girl, who memorized her phone number after leaving the note. The young woman is now in college.

Flight attendants receive training to identify signs of human trafficking, enabling Frederick to recognize the warning signs in this case.

“If you notice something suspicious, report it,” she advised.

Many readers praised Frederick for her courageous actions.

“I’m so grateful that the flight attendant took the initiative to help this girl,” one commenter expressed. “She’s amazing, and I hope the perpetrator faces justice. This issue is a serious disease in our society.”

“I’m angry but relieved that this flight attendant acted to ensure the girl’s safety,” another wrote. “It’s infuriating that adults exploit young people like this.”

“I admire your commitment to protecting children in vulnerable situations. You are truly a good person,” another added.
