In 2019, Wendy Auger from Rochester, New Hampshire, received a notice from the DMV asking her to return the vanity license plate she had cherished for 15 years.

“I’d really miss it if I had to give it up,” said the mother of four, who often gets positive feedback on her funny plates.

Her plate, “PB4WEGO,” serves as a reminder for her kids to “pee before we go” whenever they get in the car.

“Which parent hasn’t said that to their kids before heading out?” the paralegal remarked. “I’m not one to protest, but really?”

The DMV’s letter requesting the plate’s return claimed the letters implied “sexual or excretory acts or functions.”

“I’m not an activist,” she told CNN. “But this is just a lighthearted message that reflects our family’s personality. There was no reason for them to take it away.”

At the time, Auger was given a 10-day deadline to return her plate and was offered the chance to choose a different custom plate at no extra cost.
