A tragic accident in Manitoba, Canada, resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives on Thursday. A bus transporting elderly passengers collided with a truck at an intersection near Carberry, situated 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.

The passengers were headed to a casino in Carberry when the collision occurred. Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill, the commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, confirmed that “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead due to the crash.”

Additionally, ten people are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. Both drivers survived the incident, but authorities have not yet determined who was at fault. Images from the scene revealed destruction, with wheelchair seats and walking aids scattered among the tarpaulins covering the deceased.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences, offering thoughts for the injured and the families of those who perished. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also shared her sympathies.

This incident marks one of the deadliest road accidents in recent Canadian history. A similar tragedy in 2018 in Saskatchewan resulted in 16 fatalities. Such events highlight the critical need for vigilance and responsibility on the roads to prevent future tragedies.
