Scientists Have Some Worrying News For Those Who Still Smoke Marijuana At Age 30
There is no level of cigarette consumption that is considered safe for your health. Even smoking a few cigarettes daily can significantly heighten the risk of developing cancer, particularly lung cancer. Generally, the more cigarettes you smoke, the higher the risk becomes.
A study conducted in 2021 involving 229,028 Australians looked at the likelihood of developing lung cancer by age 80. The results indicated that only 1% of non-smokers developed lung cancer. In contrast, this risk escalates with smoking. For instance, individuals who smoke just one to five cigarettes a day face a 7.7% risk. Those who smoke over 35 cigarettes daily have a 26.4% chance of being diagnosed with lung cancer by age 80.
It’s also crucial to recognize that non-smokers can be affected as well. Exposure to secondhand smoke can also increase the risk of cancers associated with smoking.
In conclusion, there is no safe amount of smoking, and reducing or quitting altogether is the most effective way to lower your risk.
