Couple Trapped In Crashed Truck, Woman Spots ‘Smiling Figure’ Outside Her Window

Note: This story was originally reported in November 2016.

Arika Stovall and her boyfriend, Hunter, were driving in his truck when it veered off the road and struck a pillar at 75 mph.

“It should have been catastrophic,” Arika recalled.

Just before the crash, she believed they were about to lose their lives. However, at the critical moment, Hunter “made the exact maneuver needed to ensure my survival,” she said.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Arika expressed her belief that “God guided Hunter’s actions perfectly, steering the truck just enough to avoid a direct collision. This kind of protection isn’t a coincidence; it shows that He still has plans for us.”

As they sat trapped in the wrecked vehicle, Arika panicked when she noticed Hunter’s head had gone through the windshield. He appeared injured and unresponsive.

Looking out the window, she saw “a man with a bright white beard. There were no other cars around—just him. I felt he was my guardian angel. He assured me that help was on the way.”

“I realized in that moment that Hunter was safe with me. Seeing that man for even a moment kept me from witnessing the worst. I truly believe if I had seen Hunter being pulled from the truck, it would have been overwhelming,” she shared.

After the stranger walked away, she blinked and found paramedics shining a flashlight in her face.

“The miraculous part is this: I had no broken bones, only minor concussions that lasted less than a day, no internal injuries, and just a few stitches for both of us,” she wrote. “Considering the state of the truck, it’s hard to believe we survived at all.”

Less than 48 hours later, they were discharged from the hospital. When they revisited the crash site, they discovered Hunter’s Bible, opened to a page that encouraged them not to fear, reminding them that Jesus is always with them.

“I’m in awe of God’s presence throughout this ordeal. Every aspect of our experience points back to Him. I feel so blessed for the angel sent my way, for Hunter’s second chance at life, and for his recovery,” she stated.

“I pray for everyone who reads this. I want you to experience the love and power of God. He has a purpose for your life, and nothing— not even a car accident— can derail His plans for you. I hope you see His faithfulness in your life. He is good and actively working.”

“Whether good or bad, it’s all part of God’s plan unfolding. Embrace both the struggles and the joys of life! It’s truly miraculous that we survived, but beyond that, it’s part of God’s design for us. We are thankful for this experience and feel blessed to be safe, celebrating the incredible God we serve.”
