UPS Driver Notices Message On Package And Assists In Rescuing Mother And Her 3-Year-Old Child

Note: This is a retelling of an event originally reported in December 2016.

A UPS driver has been praised by authorities in Franklin County, Missouri, for his role in rescuing a woman reportedly held captive and assaulted by her husband for 15 hours.

According to local reports, the incident occurred in a home near Robertsville, where the woman’s husband allegedly physically assaulted her, sexually abused her, and threatened her with a gun. When she tried to escape, he forcibly dragged her back into the house by her hair.

Court documents reveal that he took away her phone and locked her and their 3-year-old child in a room without food or water.

In a stroke of luck, the UPS driver arrived the following morning to collect a package. The woman had written “contact 911” on the box, which the driver noticed before leaving the house.

The driver quickly notified police, who responded by rescuing the woman and child and arresting the husband. While the woman had suffered serious abuse, the child was unharmed.

The sheriff’s department lauded the driver’s quick thinking, crediting him with a significant role in the rescue.

To protect the victim’s identity, the name of the accused has not been released. He faces multiple charges, including domestic assault, sodomy, unlawful restraint, and child endangerment, with a bond set at $100,000.
