Popeyes Workers Make Fun Of Customer, Using ‘White Boy’ As A Nickname, Unaware He’s A Celebrity

Update on a January 2017 Incident:

Bo Bice, known for being a runner-up on “American Idol,” has alleged racial discrimination during an encounter at a Popeyes restaurant located at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Bice, a restaurant employee made a derogatory comment about him, referring to him as “that white boy” before misdelivering his order. This remark was reportedly followed by laughter from the staff.

Bice also claims that earlier, a female employee ridiculed his name by using various mocking nicknames.

Afterward, Bice shared photos and identified one of the employees on social media. He expressed his frustration to WTTG, stating that if the roles were reversed, his actions might lead to significant backlash and boycotts.

Facebook removed his post, citing it as a violation of their policy against bullying and shaming individuals. This action frustrated Bice, who felt that Facebook’s decision favored the corporation over his right to express his concerns.

Bice criticized the social media platform for silencing his voice and continued to advocate for an open discussion on the issue. He expressed his dismay over having to publicize the incident to prompt a conversation on racial sensitivity.

In response, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen issued an apology, stating that they did not condone the behavior and had taken corrective measures. Bice requested that the employee receive sensitivity training rather than termination.
