Doug Sheehan, an actor known for his role in the soap opera General Hospital, has passed away at the age of 75. According to a statement from Kane Funeral Home in Wyoming, Sheehan died peacefully at his home on the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2024, with his wife by his side. The cause of death has not been disclosed, and funeral arrangements are pending.

Sheehan made his television debut in 1978 with Chuck’s Angels, but it was his role as Joe Kelly, a lawyer on General Hospital, that brought him widespread recognition in 1979. He continued on the show until 1982, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination that year for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.

Following his time on General Hospital, Sheehan appeared in the Dallas spinoff Knots Landing in 1983, playing reporter Ben Gibson, who was married to Valene Ewing, portrayed by Joan Van Ark. He later starred as stockbroker Brian Harper in the NBC sitcom Day by Day alongside Christopher Daniel Barnes and Linda Kelsey before retiring in 1988. His other television credits include roles on MacGyver, Diagnosis Murder, Columbo, Cheers, and Clueless.

In addition to his television work, Sheehan appeared in films such as Cops n Roberts (1995), Victor/Victoria (1982), and 10 (1979). His last on-screen roles were guest appearances on Sabrina the Teenage Witch and What I Like About You.
