He Is 103, She Is 100, And They Have Been Together For 82 Years. Their Surprising Secret To A Long And Joyful Marriage Might Just Catch You Off Guard
Long-lasting marriages are increasingly rare these days. When you ask couples who have been together for 50-60 years about their secret, the answers are often varied.
One piece of advice that has stayed with us is from a couple who said, “Never go to bed angry.” Trust and communication are also valuable tips for newlyweds.
However, a couple from North Carolina stands out for their extraordinary milestone: 82 years of marriage. They also celebrated their 103rd and 100th birthdays, with just a week between their special days.
D.V. Williams, 103, and Willie Williams, 100, recently had a celebration at a church in Charlotte, marking their anniversary and birthdays surrounded by friends and family.
Their granddaughter, BJ Williams-Green, reflected on their remarkable health and longevity, saying, “Seeing them at this age and so well is still good; it’s just a blessing they’re still here.”
The Williams couple might soon be recognized in the Guinness Book of Records for the oldest combined age of a married couple. The current record is held by Miyako Matsumoto, 100, and her husband Masau Matsumoto, 108, from Japan.
While the Matsumotos attribute their long marriage to patience, D.V. and Willie Williams suggest a simpler approach: “Just be nice to each other,” as Willie Williams put it.
