Note: This story is a re-publication of events that originally gained attention in March 2023.

William Shatner, the 91-year-old renowned actor from Star Trek, recently spoke about his reflections on life in an interview preceding the release of his documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill.” Shatner candidly acknowledged his awareness of his limited time left but chose to create the documentary as a lasting message for his grandchildren after he’s gone. He expressed his desire to ensure he leaves behind something meaningful for his loved ones to remember him by. Shatner, a proud grandfather to five grandchildren from his previous marriages, shared his sentiments in anticipation of the documentary’s premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Texas, directed by Alexandre O. Philippe. His daughters, Leslie, Lisabeth, and Melanie, also feature prominently in the film.

In a previous interview with The Guardian in 2014, Shatner had reflected on the joys of being a grandparent, emphasizing the profound happiness it brought him. He described how he cherished spending time with his grandchildren, imparting wisdom gained from his illustrious career.

Recently, Shatner made headlines by reuniting with his former wife, Elizabeth Martin, at the Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills. The couple openly discussed their renewed connection, with Shatner fondly describing Elizabeth as his “zest for life,” while she characterized their relationship as “cinnamon.” Their reunion comes after their divorce settlement in March 2020, which saw Shatner retain his properties in Studio City and Three Rivers, California, while Elizabeth received properties in Malibu Cove, Versailles, Kentucky, and a share in her family’s farm in Indiana.

Despite his age, Shatner remains actively engaged in both his career and personal life, continuing to forge strong bonds with his family and embark on new projects. His documentary, “You Can Call Me Bill,” stands as a testament to his desire to leave behind a meaningful legacy. Shatner’s openness about mortality serves as a poignant reminder to cherish moments with loved ones.
