My Teenage Son Recently Acquired New Clothes And Headphones, Claiming They Were From His Father. Suspecting Something Was Amiss, I Made The Decision To Discreetly Monitor His Activities

When Cathy notices her son Alex wearing new headphones and dressed in unfamiliar clothes, she becomes curious. She decides to follow him one day to find out where he’s getting everything. When she discovers the truth, it takes her back to her own past.

“My son Alex has been wearing new clothes that I didn’t buy for him, and I only just noticed. Yesterday, I saw him with a new pair of headphones around his neck,” Cathy said as she prepared breakfast.

“Where did you get those headphones, dear?” she asked.

“From Dad,” Alex texted back, loud and clear.

“And the clothes?”

“Um,” Alex murmured awkwardly.

It made sense; Cathy was divorced from Alex’s father, Ian, and both parents frequently bought Alex new things, making it hard to keep track.

However, Ian was practical and never spent much on brand names, which made Cathy skeptical of the expensive clothing Alex now wore.

“Ian,” Cathy said into the phone later, “I don’t know what to think. Maybe he found a side job or something.”

“He’s fourteen, Cathy,” Ian reassured her. “He couldn’t earn that much from a part-time job.”

That night, Cathy overheard Alex whispering on the phone.

“Mom,” Alex said suddenly as he entered the kitchen, “I’m going over to Jeremy’s to work on a project, okay?”

“Alright, just be back soon,” Cathy replied, wiping her hands.

She took her keys and phone and followed him discreetly.

Alex got into a car with a blonde woman after crossing a couple of streets. As Cathy got closer, she recognized Lia, her long-lost sister whom she hadn’t seen in years.

Emotions flooded Cathy as she realized Lia was back in their lives, deeply involved with her son.
