Family’s Heartbreaking Choice: With Heavy Hearts, They Had To Let Go Of Their 13-Year-Old Daughter After A Tragic Sleepover Incident

Australian Ally Langdon visibly struggled to contain her emotions as she spoke with a couple who faced the heart-wrenching decision to let go of their child, just 13 years old, after she fell victim to the dangerous trend of “chroming.” Langdon, herself a mother, found it difficult to hold back tears witnessing the tragic loss of the young girl due to this popular but deadly trend.

On the program “A Current Affair,” host Ally Langdon interviewed Andrea and Paul Haynes, who shared the heartbreaking story of their daughter Esra’s passing. Esra, a vibrant athlete known for her determination and talent, tragically lost her life after experimenting with the dangerous practice of inhaling chemicals, commonly referred to as “chroming,” which has gained traction on social media platforms.

Described as a loving and spirited individual by her teammates, Esra’s life took a devastating turn on March 31 when she attended a sleepover with friends and, seeking a dangerous high, ingested aerosol deodorant. This reckless act resulted in cardiac arrest and irreversible brain damage, leaving her family shattered.

Despite their vigilance as parents, Andrea and Paul received the dreaded call that every parent fears, informing them of their daughter’s critical condition. Despite efforts to revive her, Esra’s injuries were too severe, leading to the agonizing decision to let her go after eight days on life support.

The Haynes family, along with their community, now grapple with the profound loss of a young life and the devastation caused by this preventable tragedy. Determined to raise awareness about the dangers of chroming, Paul and Andrea urge parents to educate themselves and their children about the risks associated with substance abuse.
