Cracker Barrel Issues Apology And Removes Decor Deemed ‘Offensive

A customer at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Connecticut raised concerns about the establishment’s decorations, noting what appeared to be “nooses on the ceiling.” The restaurant chain has issued an apology for the incident.

Cracker Barrel later clarified that the “noose” was actually a wrapped cord attached to decor items. However, they acknowledged that it was unacceptable that employees failed to recognize the resemblance to nooses before displaying the decorations.

Twitter user Alfonso Robinson shared photos of the decorations, questioning their presence at the Cracker Barrel in East Windsor.

Cracker Barrel responded, explaining that the “noose” was part of an antique soldering iron on display at the restaurant and has since been removed.

Activists engaged in a positive and constructive conversation with restaurant manager Mark Smith, according to PowerUp-Manchester founder Keren Prescott.

Smith revealed that the cord had been displayed for 22 years without notice until recently. He invited Prescott to inspect the restaurant.

Prescott appreciated Smith’s acknowledgment, noting that perspectives may differ based on individuals’ backgrounds.

Some Twitter users called for Cracker Barrel to review all decorations in its locations or provide a timeline for such a review.

In a statement to Fox News, Cracker Barrel reiterated its commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. They acknowledged the oversight regarding the decor item and expressed gratitude to the guest who brought it to their attention.
