Apple Advises Users Against Charging Their IPhones Overnight While They Sleep

Apple recently issued a cautionary statement regarding the potential hazards associated with overnight charging of iPhones. They underscored the risks of overheating and fire, particularly when the device is obstructed, such as by pillows or blankets. Apple emphasized that this obstruction significantly heightens the risk of overheating, potentially impairing device functionality and posing fire hazards.

Their safety advisory advises against prolonged skin contact with charging cables and recommends maintaining a well-ventilated charging environment to mitigate heat accumulation. Additionally, Apple discourages the use of non-official chargers, urging users to opt for accessories that meet international safety standards.

Echoing these concerns, a firefighter from Kent Fire Rescue highlighted the risks of not being aware of a fire while asleep, emphasizing that even genuine chargers can pose dangers. Apple’s guidance prioritizes safer charging practices, stressing the importance of remaining awake and vigilant during the charging process to ensure safety.
